On Nov. 10, the Big Island Running Company held the Miracle Mile. The race is just one mile, but it is an all-out race against the clock. Runners started and finished at the Coconut Grove Marketplace on Alii Drive.

Kona’s own Luis De La Torre sprinted into first place with a total time of 5 minutes, 2.97 seconds. DLT finished 14 seconds ahead of Thunder Frost, who earned second place with an incredible time of 5:16.58. Chris Prater claimed third just behind Frost with a time of 5:18.94.

Shayli Nakamoto placed 16th place overall and first for the women with a speedy time of 6:07.23. Nakamoto crossed the line 39 seconds ahead of Brette Knaute, who took second with a time of 6:46.64. Marissa Bryant-Manago finished in third at 7:20.97.

Congratulations to all who competed in the Miracle Mile.

On Thursday, in honor of Thanksgiving, Kiser Motorcycles held its fifth annual (Tri)ptophan Turkey Day Triathlon. The race included a 1/3-mile swim, a 16-mile bike ride and a two-mile run.

Thomas Vonach finished first in the turkey day tri with an outstanding 58:17. Chris Gregory took third overall and second for the men at 1:01.25. Michael DeCarli rounded out the top three men with a time of 1:01.59.

On the women’s side, Bree Wee pounded out the course and claimed second overall (first for the women) with a time of 59:26. Sarah Chang claimed second with a time of 1:06.44. Kristin Drost rounded out the top three women (1:07.50).

Congratulations to all who raced in the (Tri)tophan tri.

There was more Thanksgiving fun Thursday thanks to Big Island Running Company, which held its annual Wobble Gobble Run/Walk at the Walua Road Trail. The event included distances of one, 3.5 and 6.4 miles.

In the one-mile race, Joe Catanzaro flew into first place with a time of 6:45; Jon Kunitake was right on his heels to claim second, finishing in 6:46. Third for the men went to Brian Shiroma (7:07).

In the women’s race, Cassidy Landes set a new course record with a time of 6:56. Sienna Levine placed second (7:11), and Audrey Weir was third (7:48).

Brooke Myers also set a course record, claiming the 3.5-mile race with a time of 24:13. Sarah Weir was second (31:11), and Jeannette Vidgen was third.

Eric Tallan finished second overall and first for the men at 24:28. Brett Hrenko claimed second place in the men’s division (27:13), and Seth Beach took third (30:55).

In the 6.4-mile race, James Resor claimed the title with a speedy time of 43:09. Joe Fairchild earned second for the men (44:48), and third went to Joe Ferdico (47:07).

Zoe Sims took first for the women with a time of 47:08. Kari Van Mols finished right behind Sims — hundredths of a second behind, according to race organizer Melissa Braswell — at 47:08 to claim second. Alexandra Herd earned third at 48:45.

Congratulations to all who raced in the Wobble Gobble races.

On Sunday, the Frozen Pea Productions Post Pigout Peamania will take place at 8 a.m. near Kailua Pier. This race has a two-loop course. The first loop includes a quarter-mile swim and a two-mile clockwise run/walk; the second loop features a quarter-mile swim and a two-mile counterclockwise run/walk. As always, FPP will offer a short course available to all.
